Artist Statement:

My use of numbers arose from interest in the application by physicians of a numeric scale to describe a subjective experience, physical pain, that cannot be adequately communicated by traditional language. Subsequently, I began to incorporate sequential numbering to address the concept of time, duration, and endurance. While my work is an outgrowth of pain, the meditative process of making the work helps me to transcend the experience to some degree.
