Artist Statement: The quilt was designed while recuperating from back surgery in January, 1999, the red triangles representing the monster's teeth, a blazing fire of pain. This work was a healing process for me. It was constructed using hand dyes by Helene Davis, on which I painted "veins," embroidered "nerves" and beaded the "daggers." |
